About 512gb Usb Flash Drives. Why Don’t They Work! Data Corruption.

Posted by flashchiptutor on August 9, 2010

Did you buy a usb flash drive or pen stick advertised as 512 GB or 512GB? Are you having problems?

You should. Do you know why? There is no such thing on the market as a usb flash drive at 512GB capacity. The highest capacity available is 256GB. As of August 2010, no company offers 512GB for a flash drive. This includes brand name manufacturers and OEM (no name brands).

Anyone or any internet site that offers 512GB is selling a fake. Fakes are false capacity. The flash memory chips have been altered to lie about their actual capacity. If you have the right software you can change a 2GB chip to pretend to be 512GB, even as much as terabyte!

You will find 512GB flash drives advertised on eBay and wholesaling sites in the Orient.

A 512GB flash drive as yet, as not been invented! Unfortunately too many buyers and also resellers don’t know that there is no such thing as a 512GB flash drive.

The highest capacity available on the market today is 256GB. It is very expensive too. If you want to check out the rock bottom prices for 256 GB you should visit, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139147 You will find that a DT310 256GB costs $840US.

The lowest price for 128GB right now is $275 US. See newegg 128GB prices.

A lot of people believe they can buy 128GB capacity for as low as $20 US! Most of the unlucky buyers bid on eBay.

It’s a bit scary. Just have a look at the post:Buying A Kingston DataTraveler DT200 128GB Flash Drive On eBay? What You See Might Not Be What You Receive. Have a look.

The track backs on Kingston USB Flash Drives. How To Check You Have A Genuine One And Not A Counterfeit – Easy Guide. Kingston Technologies Fighting To Protect Consumers And Itself From Counterfeits show how many eBay sellers have offered fake capacity.

We mostly see 512GB fakes for Sony. The FrankenFlash project is actively fighting against false capacity usb flash drives. If you bought one you should report in to SOSFakeFlash using the Report A Fake Tab. You can report sellers outside of eBay.
